Well I survived a fabulous shoot on Sunday thank God! I've been battling with Strep for the past 3 days and I feared that I was going to be a walking zombie for Sundays wedding but alas the antibiotics kicked in and bada boom baby! Jeff and Terah had an awesome wedding and I had so much fun being a part of it! I first photographed this beautiful young couple last year for their engagement session.
I just can't believe I let myself get all teary eyed during the father daughter dance! I don't know why that part always gets me. I know if I have a daughter I'm going to be a complete mushmellow for sure!
Now to get a little techy, hahaha. I really enjoyed using the Sigma 85mm 1.4 throughout the reception. It was a pretty dark in the big room as it was only lit but soft tungsten overhead lights and twinkle lights wrapped around the support pillars. I just love the way the 5DMKII handles low light when coupled with a fast prime lens! That full frame does so well and I had no problem pushing the camera to 3200 iso the whole time. I just had to use my 580exII's focus assist beam and deactivated the flash to ensure perfect focus about 90% of the time. My assistant Joey had the same rig but was using the 70-200f2.8L IS to get in a little tighter from further distances. He did a great job helping out, especially for the couples and group shots where we got to use my Profoto lights (dusted them off hahaha) He did show up late to the ceremony though hahah sorry Joey had to mention that bit sucka! He took his lashings well ; )
I did have my 7D with the 24-70 f2.8L as a back up camera and pulled that out for some of the action shots as well. It didn't do as well as the 5DMKII in low light though, It may be time to upgrade her for the 1DMKIV : P
