Taking me Back

I had the privilege of photographing a newborn for a cute laid back family and it reminded me how little babies first are. My son Jonah is 4 months now and I can't believe how big he's gotten in that time! Being a first parent there's so many things I'm learning about babies and their amazing exponential growth is one of them! This little angel was just weeks old but was as cute as a button. I was even able to cox a little smile from her a few times. I guess I'm THAT funny looking. I kinda miss Jonah being that little but I'm excited for the things to come! Like John Lennon said "Everyday in Every way it's getting better and better"

The Howards. Photography isn't always work work work

I found myself driving over 40 miles to photograph a family session in what I thought was just going to be another typical family photo session. As I drove further and further east the clouds look ominous and I was a bit concerned. Luckily the rain had poured over my photo site many hours prior to our appointment and when all that was left was a cool moist environment. That's what I was met with when I got out of my car and walked towards the tree line with my trusty 5D MK II at my side. I decided I was going to document the ordeal with a 50mm 1.4 to get a more natural perspective. I was impressed with the cool morning and the awesome smell of recent rain on the trees and ground. I immediately became excited. The Howards showed up on time and eager to pose. We walked down to the waterfall and my mind began to run wild with ideas. My mind started to produce the final images that I know I wanted to see on my iMac. The family was so much fun and adventurous! I'm so happy when they trust me enough to allow me to capture craziness and unordinary settings. Especially ones that don't exactly conform to a typical family "sitting." At the end of the session I walked away with a big grin on my face and a sense of eagerness. I remembered that photography isn't always just work work work.

It has begun!

Ok so after much encouragment from my dear wife, I have finally created a BLOG!!!! This blog will focus on my studio and photography business. I hope this will be a fun little venture and not a complete FAIL! So here is the first entry enjoy 'ol friends!
