Jeff and Terah!!!

Well I survived a fabulous shoot on Sunday thank God! I've been battling with Strep for the past 3 days and I feared that I was going to be a walking zombie for Sundays wedding but alas the antibiotics kicked in and bada boom baby! Jeff and Terah had an awesome wedding and I had so much fun being a part of it! I first photographed this beautiful young couple last year for their engagement session.
I just can't believe I let myself get all teary eyed during the father daughter dance! I don't know why that part always gets me. I know if I have a daughter I'm going to be a complete mushmellow for sure!
Now to get a little techy, hahaha. I really enjoyed using the Sigma 85mm 1.4 throughout the reception. It was a pretty dark in the big room as it was only lit but soft tungsten overhead lights and twinkle lights wrapped around the support pillars. I just love the way the 5DMKII handles low light when coupled with a fast prime lens! That full frame does so well and I had no problem pushing the camera to 3200 iso the whole time. I just had to use my 580exII's focus assist beam and deactivated the flash to ensure perfect focus about 90% of the time. My assistant Joey had the same rig but was using the 70-200f2.8L IS to get in a little tighter from further distances. He did a great job helping out, especially for the couples and group shots where we got to use my Profoto lights (dusted them off hahaha) He did show up late to the ceremony though hahah sorry Joey had to mention that bit sucka! He took his lashings well ; )
I did have my 7D with the 24-70 f2.8L as a back up camera and pulled that out for some of the action shots as well. It didn't do as well as the 5DMKII in low light though, It may be time to upgrade her for the 1DMKIV : P

Little William

Summer's almost here and the shoots are starting to pour on in! I'm glad because I'm doing what I LOOOVE!!
Yesterday's shoot was very fun especially because I got the chance to photograph the cutest family! The had a little boy who had just turned 1 and it reminded me of how my little Jonah is about to turn 1 next month. William was just as cute as can be and was such an easy baby to work with. Maybe he has a future in modeling : ) I just love shooting in Grapevine! The rustic vintage setting lends itself to some great captures especially in the late afternoon sun.

The chances!

Man this weather has been throwing off my groove! So many reschedules and cancellations for my poor Groupon folks. Don't worry friends we'll get you taken care of, unless you're going for the dripping wet sexy look hahahah

The Stockyards? Maybe.....

So I had a shoot with Casey yesterday. A seasoned model ready to get back in the game while he puts himself through Nursing school. Of course I had my trusty sidekick Joey at my side ready to spring into action! We decided to shoot in the Stockyards but not in a typical westerny (if there is such a word) way. We tried hard to leave out any major landmarks or details that would give our location away. It is always fun to see people stop and watch us at work, even the giggly UT girls in their absurdly short shorts. All in all we had a good time and I'm very happy with the results!

Cheers!

follow up on Nick

Here is the photo of Mr. Speed Demon! Nick doing his thang down the court!

Trucking Along

I am pleased to say that so far everything has been going smoothly! I've been getting clients booked and accommodated as best as I can. Though I did strangely have a customer give me two different directions to spots that they wanted me to go and scout and give them my opinion on which one would be best for their shoot. Both locations are pretty far with one of them being like 40miles away. I can't even imagine what that would be like if I had to scout locations for every single customer! I mean don't get me wrong I've scouted and would scout a location(s) if it was a big advertising campaign or some other big budget shoot that afforded the budget for those types of services but on a $79 Groupon deal? It was just a strange request I guess.
So far I've met some very nice families and beautiful children. Had a great time shooting a lovely young lady for a dating site where she'll be using the photos. I hope they help her find that special someone! : )
I'm also looking forward to shooting a father/daughter on Harleys in a couple of weeks. Now that is going to be a blast! Might even have to bring out the big guns (profotos sorry nerd tech talk) for this one!

Nick the speed Demon

I had the pleasure of photographing a young athlete today for his senior portraits. He plays wheelchair basketball and boy can that kid move! We set up an awesome Commercial type shot after we got the more traditional Senioristic type portraits in Watuaga at Foster Village. I'm excited for Nick to see his shots and the result of his patience and hard work hahaha!! It also helps to have a cool mom! You rocked it today June!

I seriously can't stress enough how important it is to have a good assistant with you on shoots where you're using multiple cameras, lenses, and off camera lighting! Joey you're a blessing my friend! Anyway enjoy the teaser images ; )

Shawnte & Aeiou

Well I'm starting a whole new Season and I'm looking forward to it! My first session was with a lovely couple, Shawnte & Aeiou! How cool is that name right?! It was my first time at the Fort Worth Water Gardens, very relaxing little place. One of the main pools was not working so we were a bit dissapointed. I had my new friend and assistant come out for the first time with me and he did a great job running my lighting and carrying the gear. I was explaining a lot of my techniques and he asked questions as we went along. I love having someone as passionate about photography as I am helping along. We did finally end up getting shut down by security but at least it was right before we were wrapping up. Apparently we need a permit to shoot in a public park. Good Luck on your wedding Shawnte & Aeiou! May God bless the rest of your lives greatly!
